Unlike an ordinary steamer, the f20 Handheld Clothes Steamer Pro uses suction to hold fabric against a hot soleplate, so it presses rather than merely relaxing the fibres. It also has a dry iron mode for pressing without steam. Sharp trouser creases and heavy linen are still an iron's job.
What does the suction on the f20 Handheld Clothes Steamer Pro actually do?
It draws the garment gently towards the soleplate and holds it there while you steam. That gives the hot plate something firm to press against on a hanging garment, which is what produces an ironed finish. It also frees your other hand, because you are not pulling the fabric taut.

How long does one tank of water last?
Up to 8 minutes of continuous steaming from the 90ml tank, which covers several shirts. The tank slides off, so refilling takes seconds at any tap rather than carrying the whole steamer to the sink.
Is the f20 Handheld Clothes Steamer Pro safe on silk, wool and other delicates?
Yes. It has two steam levels, so you can drop to the lower setting for silk, fine wool and chiffon. As with any steamer, test an inconspicuous area first if you are unsure about a fabric.
Can I use tap water in the f20 Handheld Clothes Steamer Pro?
Yes. In a hard water area, filtered or distilled water slows mineral build-up and extends the life of the steam chamber. Either way, run the self-clean cycle regularly, since limescale is what ends the life of most steamers.

The Fridja clothes steamer comes in an attractive box with cardboard inserts for protection. An instruction booklet, resting stand, spare dust filter and a handy travel pouch are included.
The water tank is inside the handle and is pulled out to remove. To fill a silicone stopper is removed and the tank can be filled from the tap. The steamer feels of good quality and looks well made. The instructions are required to initially understand the functions. Plugging in and waking up takes only 30 seconds. Two levels of steam can be selected or dry iron. A nice fearure is the suction fan that pulls the fabric into the sole plate. This is really useful for garments that are in a hanger and there’s no suitable surface to use as an ironing board. I used a creased shirt and ironed it traditionally on an ironing board and then hanging over the side as if on a hanger. The suction feature worked really well and the folds and creases fell out. This would be a telly useful travel iron that will quickly smooth out ceases and wrinkles but can also put in a smart ironed crease in sleeves and trousers if desired. A stand is provided with heatproof silicone inserts. The stand is not well designed but is adequate to keep the iron off a delicate surface until cool. All in all this is a quality steamer that is very effective and at a reasonable cost so value for money.
I had been looking for a steamer which I could use while travelling, so I was very pleased when this product arrived.
First things first, this is not a very heavy steamer, which makes it suitable for when you are travelling. In the box, you get the steamer, an extra filter, a small plate to keep the hot steamer on, a bag to carry it and an instruction manual. The instructions are very simple and detailed. The power cord length is also very good, which makes it easier to use.
Once you open the steamer, you first need to put water into the small tank. There is no funnel or anything provided, so it was a bit of a struggle to fill the water tank. Once filled, I checked for any leaks and the good thing is that there was no leak.
When you switch the steamer on, it takes around 30–40 seconds to get ready for ironing, which is fairly standard. There are two suction levels and two steam levels. I preferred to use low steam and low suction on T-shirts or trousers, but heavier clothes like jeans are done nicely with high steam and high suction. The suction is a useful feature as it helps hold the clothes in place while steaming.
Please note that it does make some sound while the suction is running, which is expected.
Currently priced at £99.99, which seems reasonable to me considering the features and the fact that it can be used as both a steamer and an iron.
This is smart, well made with a premium feel and very effective in use. After switch on it takes around 30 secs for the plate to heat up in the default iron mode. The plate glides really well, it's not a heavy steamer and the twist head makes getting a good angle straightforward.
I've steamed and ironed all sorts* and it works well, the iron mode better than my actual iron and the steam helps creases fall out with ease. It's not a noisy steamer until the suction mode is enabled and at that stage the volume level goes up though it's not horribly loud. The noise is justified though because it does a decent enough job of sucking up excess water, it's not 100% but it's still good.
For all the good above there are a few things that i find odd or disappointing. The most obvious is the small 90ml water tank that states an 8 minute steam runtime. How it's filled is another matter, it's a tiny fill port and bizarrely for a premium £99.99 steamer there is no funnel or similar provided to help fill it. Why a cheap little funnel or jug wasn't included is beyond me for the price, you get those with budget irons and steamers.
The next thing is the holder that is used to keep this safe during and after use while it's hot. It seems to be an afterthought and seems like a repurposed soap dish rather than something practical or designed specifically for this. It's poor, unstable and a faff to deal with and coupled with the design of the handle and placement of the mains cable it doesn't inspire confidence.
My other grumble is there is no brush attachment included which you can attach to the hot plate to dig into fibres on materials or prevent direct contact with the target surface. To me that's a must for velvet-like material or similar.
I've rated this 4 stars because it's very good at what it does but at this price it lacks basic accessories to improve the usability.
The steamer comes very well packaged which means that it is well protected in transit. Weighing no more than a simple iron, it is comfortable to hold and use. An illustrated instruction booklet is included and runs to ten pages. The QR code in the booklet gives access to a useful introductory video. A soft cloth bag is supplied which is helpful if one intends to travel with it.
The construction is sturdy being made of hard plastic and metal. The switches are positive as they are mechanical rather than touch screen. The soleplate rotates smoothly and clicks easily into place. You may find it difficult to extract the water container from the end of the handle at first but it gets easier with use. The water container isn’t very big which is a shame. No jug or syringe is supplied which seems a bit of a miss given the price of the steamer compared to a cheap funnel. You need to find a small container that can fill the water tank through a hole approximately 1cm in diameter.
The pump that puffs out steam at a lower or higher rate, is quiet, making just a low clicking sound. The fan that creates the suction, makes more noise, depending on the power level chosen.
This is a very well-made steamer which is comfortable to use and effective. Recommended.
Only tried out really, given 5 stars because confident it will be "spot on". Have the standalone steamer with the large tank. Also have the fabric shaver and received a free one with my new order
Good little steamer. Really effective on my thick cotton t-shirts. Just go over the creases slowly and use double suction to hold it in place. T-shirts look much better after a 2 minute steam.
