Steamer FAQs

Can I use my steamer whilst I’m wearing the clothes?

Don’t you dare! It will hurt.

How do I descale a clothes steamer?

We’ve written a full guide on how to descale a clothes steamer. You can read it here.

Is it okay to use fragrance / detergents / ironing water?

We don’t advise to add anything to the water as this will both damage the heater and invalidate your guarantee (unless it is a Fridja approved product!) However, there is nothing wrong with spraying the garment with the scent / ironing water prior to steaming. You’ll get the same effect and you won’t damage your beautiful steamer!

How do I steam a shirt?

Check out a video here!

What sort of water should I use?

Though we recommend using distilled or demineralised water, normal tap water may be used. This carries the risk of more sediment buildup, so occasionally empty the unit. Do not allow the water to become stale. Old water containing mineral buildup or mildew may cause stains or musty odours. Follow the descaling instructions in the manual if necessary. Never use scented or starched water, as they could clog up your steamer and cause malfunction.

Is it okay to leave water in the tank / unit?

If you use it regularly, it should not be necessary to empty the steamer after each use. However, if you only use it once in a while please do empty it to prevent any leaking or limescale/algae developing. We advise to not leave the steamer/water tank in direct sunlight.

I’m not very good at steaming, got any tips?

We do indeed. Our most popular video on YouTube is our video ‘Top 5 Tips On How To Use A Clothes Steamer’. You can see it here!

f10 Handheld Clothes Steamer FAQs

My f10 won’t turn on, am I doing something wrong?

Possibly. Please press the on/off button, rather than holding it. This should turn on your f10 swiftly! We are updating the instruction manual and apologise for any confusion.

Does the f10 work all around the world?

Unfortunately not, the f10 only works in countries which use 220/240V. This means that our f10 does not work in America or Canada without a step down transformer.

What do the different colour lights on the f10 mean?

The f10 has two modes, full power mode and eco mode!

Flashing red light = getting ready
Press button to switch between modes
Constant blue light = ready to steam full steam power
Constant green light = ready to steam eco mode (less steam, water tank lasts longer)

Both have the same heat power to the ironing metal plate. After it’s not been used for a while when it is pulsing red/green/blue light, it is in stand by mode.

Is the f10 safe to use on all fabrics? Including wedding dresses?

Yes!! The f10 is super safe to use on all clothes, including suits, wedding dresses, saris, curtains, bedding and lots more. If you’re unsure of any fabric you can use the delicate fabric guard included with every f10.

How much does the f10 weigh?

Without the water tank, it weighs 550 grams. The tank itself weighs 100 grams. You can make your luggage even lighter by using the water bottle adapter instead of the tank.

Is an f10 suitable for all my ironing needs?

The f10 is a fast and quick alternative to the iron and ironing board. It’s small and practical, and won’t take up precious space in your home. The f10 is also great for travelling.

While I was using the steamer, a part has come away with the water tank, and now there are screws showing.

Contact our customer service teamto arrange the return.

How do I descale my f10 steamer?

To descale your f10 steamer, follow these steps:

To clean the head, please use a cleaner like Viakal sparingly to clean the metal plate and holes of the steamer head. For the holes where the steam comes out, gently use a paper clip to clear any blockages.

To clean the insides, add a very small pinch of descaling crystals to the water tank. Turn on the steamer and direct the steam out of a window. Once the entire tank has been used, refill it with clean water and repeat the process.

My f10 steamer doesn’t produce steam.

Please try the following steps, as they may help resolve the issue:

Prepare a Cleaning Solution: Fill the water tank with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 distilled water.
Run the Steamer: Run the steamer until half of the mixture has been steamed.
Rest the Steamer: Unplug the steamer and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Pour Out the Mixture: Pour out the remaining mixture.
Repeat if Necessary: Rinse and repeat the process as many times as needed until the steam returns to normal (this may take 2-3 cycles).
Flush with Fresh Water: Run a cycle of fresh, cold water through the steamer before using it on your fabrics.
Check for Blockages: Occasionally, a brown liquid may appear while cleaning—continue flushing until it disappears. If there is a blockage, try blowing air through the water supply tube using the tube from the water bottle adaptor.
Clean the Metal Plate: Check the metal plate for any blockages and use a pin to unblock if needed.

My f10 steamer powers on, heats up but when pressing the steam button, it does not work.

Turning the Steamer On

  • Use the on/off button to turn on the steamer. Please press the button; do not hold it.
  • Do not use the trigger button (where your finger rests when holding the steamer) to turn it on. Use the trigger button only when the on/off button light is blue (full power) or green (eco-mode).

Checking the Water Tank

  • Ensure there is water in the tank, between the minimum and maximum levels.
  • Try slightly twisting the water tank to ensure water is flowing into the steamer.

Using the Water Bottle Adaptor

  • If the light is on but no steam is produced when pressing the trigger, try using the steamer with the water bottle adaptor.

f1200 Clothes Steamer Pro FAQs

Is it okay to use fragrance, detergents, or ironing water?

We don’t recommend adding anything to the water as it can damage the heater and invalidate your warranty (unless it’s a Fridja-approved product!). However, you can safely spray your garment with fragrance or ironing water before steaming. This way, you’ll get the desired effect without risking damage to your steamer.

I have an f1200 but cannot find the crease attachment.

The crease attachment was not intended to be included with the Clothes Steamer Pro. There was a design oversight, but we’ve made sure to advertise the product without the attachment to avoid any confusion. However, we plan to introduce the crease attachment as an optional accessory in the near future. Stay tuned for updates!

No steam coming out.

This could be due to a blockage or a buildup of sediment. For detailed descaling instructions, please refer to the manual here:f1200 Manual. Following these steps should help resolve the issue.

My steamer is making a gurgling sound.

A gurgling sound is normal during the steaming process. If you’re experiencing excessive gurgling, try extending the hose to allow any excess water to drain back into the water storage tank. This should help reduce the noise.

I want to purchase a hose for my f1200.

How do I avoid burning myself?

A person with experience with a steamer will never burn themselves, however when you begin it’s a natural worry that you might burn yourself. Therefore we’d always advise you always pay attention! Be aware of the hot steam! Secondly, use a hand mat or glove in your hand. It is heat resistant and should stop any hot steam from you burning you.

How do I steam the bottom of garments?

It’s easy to forget that when you are steaming, the bottom bits of the garments (you know, the bits near the floor) are just as easy to steam as the top bits. You can simply lift the clothes off of the floor with one hand and steam with the other! Remember this when doing long things like trousers or dresses. In addition, you can always use the hand mat for extra support!
